With Assistance of Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Children with Oncological Diseases received Medicine for the Sum Total UAH 1 million
Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, addressed the Minister of Public Health of Ukraine as to the provision of essential medicine to the public, and imperfection of the applicable system of governmental procurement of these and other goods for the national public health sector. Among the urgent issues, V.Lytvyn mentioned provision of medicine to the persons with oncological diseases, especially children. This issue is raised in the appeals of the People´s Deputies and mass media.
"The lack of essential medicine poses a direct threat to the life of children, particularly those in the Center of Children Haemato-Oncology and Bone-Marrow Transplantation of the National Children´s Specialized Hospital ‘Okhmatdyt´, the Head of the Ukrainian Parliament stresses. V.Lytvyn addressed Zinovii Mytnyk, Minister of Public Health of Ukraine, with a request to improve the situation in the current system of medical procurement.
In response to this address, the Minister of Public Health of Ukraine informed that the Ministry set up a working group that held the monitoring and inventory of the medical treatment process in the National Children´s Specialized Hospital ‘Okhmatdyt.´ The State Budget of Ukraine for 2010 allocates UAH 42,67 million for the state program "Children Oncology." Out of this sum, UAH 17,8 million are allotted for the medicine and medical goods to treat the children with oncological and haemato-oncological pathology in the National Children´s Specialized Hospital ‘Okhmatdyt´ (42% of the total sum for the treatment of children in Ukraine).
Z.Mytnyk informed about a delivery of medicine to the National Children´s Specialized Hospital ‘Okhmatdyt´ for the sum total UAH 1 million. The Ministry takes action to facilitate delivery of the essential medicine, re-distribute the medicine among the health care establishments, and monitor provision of the children with oncological and haemato-oncological pathology with the essential medicine. "The supply of medicine to the Center of Children Haemato-Oncology and Bone-Marrow Transplantation of the National Children´s Specialized Hospital ‘Okhmatdyt´ is under control," the Minister of Public Health assured.
